What is al qurtubi?

Al-Qurtubi was a renowned Islamic scholar and jurist who lived in the 13th century (610 AH/1213 CE – 671 AH/1273 CE), in Cordova, Spain. His full name was Abu `Abdullah Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Abu Bakr al-Ansari al-Qurtubi. He was known for his vast knowledge of Islamic sciences, commentary on the Quran, and contribution to Islamic theology.

Al-Qurtubi was a prolific writer and he wrote more than one hundred works on various subjects related to Islamic studies. His most prominent work is his Al-Jami` Li-Ahkam al-Quran (The Comprehensive Compilation of the Rulings of the Quran), a commentary on the Quran in which he explained the meanings, context, and legal rulings of the verses. This work is considered one of the most important and comprehensive commentaries on the Quran, and it remains popular among scholars and students of Islamic studies.

Besides his commentary on the Quran, al-Qurtubi wrote several other works on Islamic law, Hadith, Islamic theology, fiqh, and other related topics. His contributions to Islamic scholarship are recognized and respected all over the world.
